Recently, a giant Boab tree from the north of the state was transplanted to King's Park. Its 750 years old and was getting in the way of the new Great Northern Highway route. It was dug up and transported to Perth with great ceremony. It was received by the chief of the Nyongar tribe here. It is sited in a prime spot in a traditional aborigine meeting place overlooking the swan river and the city known as Two River Lookout - the Swan and Canning rivers confluence. At 750 years of age its probably the oldest thing in Oz!
You tube has a piece on it. ABC news also has a piece on it.
It looks as though there is a face on it. Can you see two eyes and a mouth?
Other boab trees are much smaller.
